What do you major in at college to make vinyl toys?

I’ve been in love with vinyl art for years. I’m studying illustration in school right now and I’m wondering if I can minor in something that will allow me to make these “toys”. I’ve heard about Industrial Design, but that’s a lot of practical stuff like toothbrushes, etc, and not creative art. Any suggestions?
